Professor of Health and Social Care Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), based in the Health Policy Department. He is also a Professorial Research Fellow in the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC; formerly PSSRU) at the LSE
Director of the School for Social Care Research

Martin’s current research emphases are primarily dementia, child and adult mental health, autism and long-term social care; much of his work has an economic focus, and in all of it he seeks to tease out the policy implications. He has published almost 500 peer-review journal papers and 15 books. His work has had numerous impacts on policy and practice in these areas.

Dr Michela Tinelli

LSE CPEC
Assistant Professorial Research Fellow

Michela’s research is primarily concerned with the socioeconomic burden of chronic diseases, and the development (and investigation of the benefits of) person centred approaches in social and health care. With her work she develops and applies cost and outcome performance measurements and long-term monitoring system to support person centred care and inform policy and practice decision-making across settings.

Ms Annette Bauer

Assistant Professorial Research Fellow

Annette is an economist who has been involved in carrying out economic evaluations to support the development of NICE guidelines for social care. Her work includes reviewing and appraising economic evidence and generating new cost-effectiveness evidence (through modelling). ​

Her current research has an economic focus and examines social care (long term care), autism and mental health. Shari completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Health Policy at the University of Toronto and her MSc in Global Health Policy at LSE. ​
